Built to honor our local veterans, the bridge provides motorists and pedestrians with safe and innovative ways to navigate Fort Wayne. This project included additional several pedestrian safety measures including additional walkway width, a railing, a plaza, and more. Curved columns accommodate accent lighting elements to illuminate the roadway and walkways.
The ceremony included a presentation of colors, followed by a prayer and raising of the American flag conducted by the Old Fort Guard. Ultimately, this bridge will enhance connectivity between downtown Fort Wayne and the Old Fort alongside adjacent neighborhoods. The bridge is an example of commitment to honor local veterans and create a more connected environment for all who live, work, and visit Fort Wayne.
