TranSystems Promotes Markwith to President, Rock to Chief Executive Officer

KANSAS CITY, MO — Rich Markwith, PE, has been named President of TranSystems. Markwith most recently served as the Executive Vice President of Strategy and has held a variety of leadership roles in the firm, such as leading the firm’s largest market sector, leading the Southeast region, and leading regional sales.

Markwith is replacing Paul Malir who will remain at TranSystems working in corporate development and as a board member. Malir has been with TranSystems for 30 years, where he held various positions and helped grow the firm from its Kansas City roots.

As President, Markwith will lead the development of market sectors and key services, overseeing the top line side of the business. Markwith will also continue guiding the sales strategy while playing an integral role in the corporate development and growth of the firm.

Markwith has more than 30 years of experience in the planning, design, and construction management field from a variety of transportation-based projects. Markwith first joined TranSystems in 2013.

Markwith holds a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Lehigh University. He is active with the American Council of Engineering Companies and the American Road and Transportation Builders Association.

In addition to the promotion of Markwith, TranSystems has named Tim Rock Chief Executive Officer. Rock previously served as Executive Vice President of Operations in which he oversaw productivity of business operations across the firm.

In his 25 years with the company and 40 years in the industry, he has served in a variety of roles, including the Central Region Senior Vice President, Market Sector Leader of the freight and federal market sectors, and has had numerous regional roles across the nation. He will continue to work in the firm’s Kansas City headquarters.

Rock replaces Richard J. Morsches, PE, who will remain at TranSystems as Chair of the Board of Directors. Morsches led a period of growth and development for the past eight years as CEO.

Rock holds a Master of Science in construction management from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor of Science in biology from Washington and Lee University. He is an active member of the American Railway Engineering & Maintenance of Way Association, the Construction Management Association of America, and the Society of American Military Engineers.
