Griffin Electric Recognizes Women in Construction, Supports Women Through Programs and Training

HOLLISTON, MA — An electrical subcontractor throughout New England and the Southeast for over 45 years, Wayne J. Griffin Electric, Inc. (Griffin Electric) recognizes women in construction. With the industry recently recognizing Women in Construction Week, and with March marking National Women’s History Month, Griffin would like to highlight the roles that women have played in the company's success over the past four-plus decades.

Griffin Electric offers support to women by fostering an environment that allows employees to pursue their goals. The company's merit shop philosophy was built on the foundation that employees can create their own future and pursue their goals, whether personal, career oriented, or education related. As part of its commitment to promote construction and the benefits of a career in the trades, Griffin Electric works with underrepresented groups and women’s organizations throughout the year to raise awareness about these opportunities.

The company has seen many women attain their electrical licensure over the past 30 years through its in-house Apprenticeship Training Program. Fully accredited and designated as an approved training site by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Griffin’s program is offered at its headquarters in Holliston, Massachusetts, as well as at each of its regional office locations in Alabama, Georgia, and North Carolina. The program features a combination of classroom and hands-on instruction, where apprentices earn compensation and receive full benefits while gaining practical field experience under the supervision of a licensed journeyperson.

Beyond the Apprenticeship Training Program, Griffin Electric offers complimentary classes, seminars, and workshops covering personal and professional topics to help employees achieve an ideal work-life balance. In addition to offering each employee $2,000 of annual tuition reimbursement, the company is also partnered with Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston to provide licensed graduates of its Apprenticeship Training Program an opportunity to earn an associate's degree, covering up
to 70 percent of tuition costs for employees.
